The characters and scenes are all beautifully drawn and, to me, this was the primary (if not only) well done aspect of the show.ĭespite the appeal of its aesthetics I had to force myself through this series. As per usual, Wit Studio made a wonderfully animated series. Rather that attempting both and leaving both in midway and unfinished.įirst, let me state what I appreciated of this anime. For an anime of 12 episode it should have focused on any one of the theme. So it tried to succeed at both only to fail at both miserably. is a type of character who would not even qualify for side character.thats the level of presence he has in this story.so this anime didn't show how the relationship unfolded nor how they achieved their dream. He was a character of no significance and he And that too in last 4 episodes.although we can relate to female lead as her struggle and passion for dream was clearly shown.the male lead was a full wishy washy character. Then after few episodes the story was not going anywhere and stayed stagnated.then suddenly it left the current story of the main characters relationship and started a new story of their passion. I started watching this anime because I thought the art style is good and looked liked it's a story about controversial relationship and how it unfolds. But I don't think this series will blow any minds. Overall, I would recommend it to people who want a chill, slice-of-life anime with touches of romance. There's no back and forth of "Will they? Won't they?" In fact, the series seems to lean more towards "They won't" and position itself as a slice-of-life drama rather than a romance. The relationship between the main character and their love interest just kind of meanders along without any clear destination. he never comes up again? He never returns to meddle with our main character? This is true for the other side characters as well no one really tries to interfere with the central romance, so there's never any threat that something might go awry. Minor spoilers: In the third episode, one of the side characters makes a move on our heroine under threat of revealing a secret (blackmail basically), and while this episode really makes you hate his guts. Here, we get a bit of that, but we don't really feel any sense of what's at stake. Usually, the goal of the main character in a romance is to get the attention and then get into a relationship with their love interest. Whereas other series use cliches of hormonal boys and girls as fanservice, this series keeps everything above water.Īlthough very enjoyable episode to episode, there's no real sense of driving direction in terms of romance or relationship. the series, however, you quickly realize that the 45-yo man actually makes this series A LOT more wholesome than some other school romance anime. A high school girl and a 45-yo man? Upon watching Obviously, the premise seems a little suspect. The rest of my review is just going to talk about the romance aspect of this series. All of the details, right from the first episode, from the track team's belongings to the different groups of diners at the restaurant, show how thoughtful this series is in bringing forward its world before we even get to know the main character(s) who inhabit it.
